Our welcoming and caring host families all live in safe residential areas just outside the city; they will do everything they can to help make you feel at home. You will be monitored by our local coordinators, the direct contact people between your parents, host families and the school. Each and every student is assigned a buddy for the first few weeks to make sure they settle in well at school.

In the magnificent setting close to your new home and school, you’ll be able able to participate in activities like horse riding, surfing, kite surfing, kayaking and rugby just to name a few. All of this while improving your English significantly!

Volunteer

During your stay you have to the choice to volunteer and make your contribution in safety in local communities close to where you live. Here are some ways you can make a difference:

  • Township volunteering: help out at the creche, Maths and English tutoring at primary school, coaching football, painting & decorating, horticulture.
  • The women and children’s rescue centre helps destitute or abused women and children to get back on their feet.
  • Helping at Kayak and Shark Warrior Centre: come in contact with penguins, whales, sharks and seals while volunteering at the centre.
  • Tears volunteering: taking care of mistreated or abandoned domestic animals.

School Holidays

If you’re in Cape Town over the South African school holidays, you’ll have the chance for adventure outside the city with your classmates.

Cape Canopy Tour

lets you glide though the air along a cable in speed and safety in the spectacular Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve; under one hour outside Cape Town. Zip line between mountains over dramatic valleys and waterfalls down below.

Cederberg & Orange River Canoe

Established in 1977 in the suburbs just north of Cape Town. Encourages sports, art and academic achievement and has a strong community spirit. If you’re interested in competitive sports, this is the school for you.

Fish Hoek High School

A great institution with superb Sporting Facilities. Nestled in a safe town right on the beach with a strong After School emphasis and expectations on results in both academic and sporting departments.

Brackenfell High School

Just north of Cape Town, they have teams for Rugby, Cricket and Tennis and you are actively encouraged to join in. They run ‘a tight ship” so the correct uniform is important.

Camps Bay High School

This school has a high academic record and wonderful after school activities. Host families all live in areas with the beautiful beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay nearby. It’s possible to surf just across the road from the school.

Boland College

Boland College is a public technical and vocational education and training college, providing affordable, lifelong, quality education and training which responds to the technical skills requirements of the economy.

Hottentots Holland High School

A leading, multicultural school serving the communities of Somerset West and Gordon’s Bay just outside Cape Town. It offers great encouragement for all students and huge sports fields.

Protea Heights Academy

A new, 3 year old school with young vibrant teachers. The school is absolutely focused on academic achievements, especially on Science, Maths and IT. Students already begin programming in the enormous IT centre in grade 10.

Simon’s Town High School

Established over 200 years ago, offering a wide range of subjects plus it is linked to Simons Town Naval Academy. It is a vibrant, interactive, diverse school with a forward thinking principal. Easily accessible by bus from towns in the local area.

Sans Souci Girls' High School

A smaller school that welcomes female students from a diversity of backgrounds and has a reputation for high achievers. For more than five decades, Sans Souci has been producing extraordinary young women.
