Things to see and do
Table Mountain
With the cableway, you can reach the top of Table Mountain in just a few minutes, otherwise you can hike your way up or down in less than an hour. From the top, you enjoy a breathtaking view of the city.
Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens
hold an incredible range of plant species, all of which are found nowhere else on Earth. The unique Cape Floral Kingdom is one of the world's great botanical kingdoms. In summer locals pack picnics and enjoy concerts at sunset- from rock to classical - at the garden's amphitheatre.
The Constantia Vineyards
Established in 1685 are amongst the oldest vineyards in South Africa, and spoil the visitor with their award winning wines, unique architecture and beautiful location.
The Cape of Good Hope
is world famous and is part of a large national park. This is the stunning location where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans are said to meet.
Robben Island
Nelson Mandela served most of his time in prison on here. Today the island is a museum and a World Heritage Site. After a 30-minute ride on a ferry, you are guided by an ex-prisoner through the prison and take a drive around the infamous island.
The V&A Waterfront
is a popular entertainment spot centred around a fully working harbour. It is frequented by both tourists and Capetonians, giving it an authentic local feel.
Boulder Beach
On your way to Cape Point, why not spend a little time at the penguin colony at Boulder Beach? This is the only place in Africa where you can find the Jackass or African Penguin in its natural habitat.
Zeitz MOCAA
The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa at the V&A Waterfront is arguably one of the finest new contemporary art museums in the world. This enormous space crafted out of ex-grain silos has to be seen to be believed.
The Old Biscuit Mill
An ex-industrial complex now home to restaurants, galleries and boutiques. Come here on Saturdays and be amazed by the choice of culinary delights and entertainment on offer.
